1968 Mustang Convertible

The Convertible we are presenting is a high quality restoration that features all the right stuff.  The car was built to our specification and was designed not only to provide old fashioned get up and go, but also to handle like a sports car.  Consequently it has been restored in a true Pro Touring style.

The restoration started with a solid no hit body.  All the panels are original with the exception of the floor pan which was replaced in its entirety.  There are no patch panels on this delightful automobile.

Restoration photos are available including the bare metal pictures.

This lovely car is a rotisserie restoration with a NOM 302 coupled to a professionally rebuilt C4 automatic.  The car has been completely disassembled and then reassembled using the highest quality new or restored parts.

The 302 has been completely rebuilt along with the differential.  New 4 wheel disc brakes (including lines, SSBC rotors, SSBC calipers, pads, cables, hardware, bearings, proportioning valve), new suspension (including front and rear springs, inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower control arms) and all new electrics.

Added to the mix is a new Holley 600 CFM 4V carburetor and correct manifold.  The engine is highlighted by the correct finishing and an engine dress up kit.

The handling jumped forward a quantum leap with the following changes:

o   Front end lowered 1”

o   1” Front sway bar

o   Rear leaf springs dropped 1”

o   Rear sway bar

o   KYB front and rear gas shocks

o   17” Torque Thrust wheels

o   BF Goodrich G Force Sport tires (235/40 ZR17 on the front, 245/45 ZR17 on the back)

o   Randall’s power rack and pinion steering

The body is laser straight and finished in PPG Raven Black.  It is a high gloss finish that highlights just how straight the car is.  The underside is finished just as it was when it left the factory.

The Deluxe Bucket Seat Interior is finished in Parchment.  All the upholstery pieces are new including seat foams, seats, door panels, carpet, etc.  A Le Carra wheel is reminiscent of the Shelby cars.  A really neat touch is the tachometer that fits precisely in the spot once occupied by the clock.  The interior is finished off by a new Hartz cloth convertible top with folding rear window.

The restoration is as complete and detailed as we have ever seen.  Many restorations are labeled as show cars but fail to deliver on that promise; this car is a show car that delivers.  The discerning collector will not find one better.

It drives and looks better than new.  This is a well sorted out car that features the right amount of power, complemented by great brakes and handling, wrapped in a beautiful body.  The restoration was completed by a well known restorer who does not cut corners and we have enjoyed the car enormously.  It is a very attractive, well mannered car that is every bit as good as more modern cars in terms of balance, power and handling.
